Hatchery Information System

The Chelan Public Utility District owns and operates many hatchery facilities in the mid Columbia region of Washington State. Chelan needed a system for collecting and sharing hatchery operations and performance information that is collected by multiple users at different hatchery facilities spread around North Central Washington.

Sapere designed a web based software application can be configured and controlled from the web and database server. The architecture consists of a database driven application and interface compared to other applications where input elements and functions of a screen are hard coded in each web page.

This design was possible due to the similarities in all the business cases. As a result, user interfaces can be quickly created and modified without the need for changes to the web based application code. New and/or modified user interfaces to collect or report additional information are instantly functional after making changes to the database configuration and without having to install new software.

The benefits of this design are the reduced need for custom web page development and a platform that lowers IT administration costs, minimizes network requirements, and provides centralized data storage.
