Vista Integration

Sapere was retained by Seagate Corporation to illustrate how they could increase sales of their MSS2 network attached storage device by improving the functionality and ease of use for novice users in the home market. Sapere developed a Vista-compatible MSS2 prototype that provides the ability for users to easily configure and use the drive through Web Services on Vista.

The marketing advantage of the MSS2 as a result of this project was enhanced by Microsoft's successful use of the modified MSS2 in Bill Gates' keynote address at the 2007 Windows Hardware Engineering Conference (WinHEC). While there were many third-party devices represented at the show, the Seagate MSS2 was the only device to have its accompanying user software, developed by Sapere, displayed during the main keynote demonstrations.

In this video, Bill Gates provides an introduction to the use of devices on the home network before the demonstration takes place.
